What Classes do you run?

We hold four classes each week: two Ballroom classes and two Salsa classes. For each style of dance we hold two classes:

• The Beginners class is suitable for everyone regardless of dancing ability. Lessons will introduce you to the basic steps and guide you through each dance.
• The Intermediate class is aimed at people who already have some experience with the dance and focuses on teaching new steps and improving style and movement.

Who can join in?

Classes are open for anyone to come along. We always welcome new people so feel free to bring friends.

Do I need a Partner?

You do not have to bring a partner if you do not have one, there are always people to dance with and most of the classes will rotate partners during the sessions.

What equipment (e.g. shoes) do I need?

As mentioned above having a partner is not a requirement although please feel free to invite friends if you would like to. All you really need is a sensible pair of shoes (high heels are generally not advised for the first few classes - until you get used to the dance) and whatever clothes you feel comfortable in. Bear in mind that dancing is a very active sport and so light or loose clothes that let you breath are recommended.

Where are Classes held?

Classes for both Ballroom amd Salsa will be held in Wessex Hall. Wessex Hall can be found on the main campus on the far side of Whiteknights Lake. A map of how to reach it can be found here [PDF]. (Wessex Hall can be found in square B7.)

How much do Classes cost?

Classes for both Ballroom amd Salsa are the same and depend on how long you want to stay and whether or not you are a member of our Club. Note you do not need to be a member to join us but it does greatly reduce the price and is advised if you intend to come frequently.

How much does Membership cost?

Membership to the Club gives you a discount on all classes and most social activities that we do. Please note that under University rules all students of the University must have purchased RUSU Insurance before they can join any University sports club. Please inquire at the Students' Union office in the Hub on campus if you require this.
